NEWS AND UPDATES

April 2018
The community of Sololá, Guatemala submitted thier application to have this project with EWB. In June 2019 the EWB-Florida Professional Chapter applied to lead this project.

June 2019
The EWB-Florida Professional Chapter applied to lead this project.

April 2022
The 450-ft well was drilled in the community of Sololá, Guatemala. The next step in the process is to install the distribution system to our 750+ residents.

May 2023
The Nepal water supply project officially kicked off in late May 2023. The Florida Professional Chapter has met with the NGO's in Nepal and have begun collecting data useful for starting our design.

April 2024
The Guatemala Team travelled to Xoquic and San Bartolo to kick off the Implementation of Phase 2. We updated the design drawings for the distribution system based on constructability and staked out the path of the pipelines, performed an inspection of the water storage tank to identify needed repairs, and met with the community to confirm all of the next steps for construction.

May 2024
The Nepal Team travelled to Khabari to perform their first Assessment Trip, which was focused on data collection as well as discussions with the community members and our local NGO partner.

May 2025
The Guatemala Team officially started construction of Phase 2. This included repairs on the water storage tank, construction of pipeline for the distribution system, and building a small pump station.

November 2025
The Phase 2 construction in Guatemala was officially completed and the system was inaugurated with a local celebration!

February 2026
The Guatemala Team travelled to Xoquic and San Bartolo to perform assessments of the newly constructed system. This included water quality analysis, flow rate testing, and interviews with the community members.

March 2026
Phase 1 Construction in Nepal was completed! This included the construction of the water supply well and the well house. A pump have been selected and set up to distribute water to two small tanks where community members could begin using the water from the well.
